Ch Ch Ch CHANGES

An little inside joke from work.

But today there was change. I moved desks today at work, all the way to the boons of the office. I have been sitting in a great spot since I moved in March (I think it was then) and it is sad to have to move. I really liked my little cubbie of a desk area and the great people around me. It will be weird to use a different entrance to get into my work area and to only sit with three people (including me) instead of 12+

Boo!

I am super nostalgic and also more sappy than usual as I was preparing myself to move tomorrow, but since we had spare time today, I was pushed into doing it. I cleaned my little butt of ( I smell horrendously of Lysol wipes) but my new area is pretty dust free. Of course it won't stay that way for long. The CBC has a wonderful habit of getting dusty way too quickly.

Tonight I spent a good two hours watching my First on the Scene First Aid scenario's DVD in preparation for teaching the course this weekend. I am team teaching, but am WAY out of practice, so hopefully it will go ok. I am a lot less stressed than I should be, considering I still haven't reviewed any of my weakest subjects.

I also have a big grant to finish writing by the end of next week. This time next week I will be stress free, well only stressing out about what to pack for the CRUISE!!! Yippee!!!!

Anyway, I am pumped!

Tomorrow will be a good day. One more erg this week, I was really pooped after today's workout. 6x 500m pieces=tired Eve.

Next week I have my power breakfast w. Cito Gaston. Anyone have any questions for me to ask?!

Super pumped about that as well.

Mat has started reading Twilight, actually he is already on the last couple of chapters of Eclipse. He is demanding I hand over Breaking Dawn as soon as he finishes the third book, but I am still re-reading it!

We shall see how it turns out.

The Blister Dilemma

So I have been training for rowing again on the erg and as a result have some mad blisters forming on my hands. It is also the winter time which means....DRY SKIN.

My highschool friends would know this best from seeing it happen, as my hands get incredibly dry in the winter. Dry enough to the point that they start to bleed...yech.

Now the easy solution I'm sure you are thinking of is..."put some handcream on!"

Unfortunately my friends it is not so simple. I want the blisters on my hands to turn into callouses so they stop hurting and start being useful for the summer, but the more I mosturize, the less likely that is to happen.

I have tried tirelessly to just try and put cream on the dry sides of my hands, but for some reason, handcream likes to travel.

Alas, you may or may not see my old lady hands continue to age depending on whether I can solve the mystery of the one side moisturize.

Slumdog Millionaire

I honestly do not have the words to describe how FABULOUS the experience of watching this movie was.

Honestly. It was fabulous. I have been saying that same word over and over again since I left the theatre 15 mins ago.

It really was just the best movie I have seen all year, possibly the best movie I have seen in my life.

Mat has been bugging me to go see it since he saw it at TIFF (the people's choice award screening), and I haven't really given it a second thought. I didn't read much about it at all, and even though everyone I spoke to who has seen it raves about it, I wasn't running to watch it.

The minute I got home from watching it I called my Dad (interrupting him at my Uncle's birthday party) and told him that if he wasn't there right now I would demand that he go see this movie.

Slumdog Millionaire.

Go see it.

Fabulous.

Food Intolerance

As many of you may know, or maybe not, I have had stomach problems for around the last 3 years. They are sporadic and unpredictable. I have been to my doctor who has sent me for tests and an ultra sound, but was unable to come up with results. Sometimes I think that stress can bring it on, but other times it just happens when I don't eat often enough or sometimes it is just completely random. Bottom line is I have been unable to link it to anything consistently.

I went to a lecture tonight at the Carrot Common about Food Allergies vs. Food Intolerance.

A Naturopathic doctor spoke to our large group about Food Allergies (of which I have no known ones) and how the reaction your body has to them is immediate. Like anaphalactic shock after eating peanuts etc.

She then spoke about food intolerance. Foods that different bodies can handle, but not well, foods that our bodies have trouble digesting or that cause mental, emotional and physical problems. There is test that she administers which basically tells you which foods can effect your body this way. Therefore you can choose to avoid these foods or eat them in moderation (8-10 weeks apart) It was a really interesting lecture, and kind of gave me a new insight into an option to investigate my stomach troubles. Although this option comes at quite a price... $499.

I love how people tack on the 99 instead of just saying it's five hundred bucks. I know it is a pricing gimmick, but the sham bothers me!

You can check out her website for more information on Food Intolerance.

The Carrot Common is awesome though. They have offer each visitor 2 free nutritionist consults (normally cost $60-$100) and they have all sorts of educational information on hand, as well as lectures every week!

I will have to go to more. It is located on the Danforth, so it is a little out of the way, but worth the trip to educate myself!

Tomorrow I am off to a trade show with my Dad. It should be fun, and hopefully I can come back with some samples, or at least some ideas of what to purchase for the Rowing club this year.
